When Georgetown's Jordan Vettoretti put a point blank shot into the back of the net in overtime, it marked another disappointment for the men's lacrosse team. No. 5 Georgetown (5-0) defeated eighth-ranked Duke (6-3) 6-5 Sunday at Harbin Field in Washington D.C.
Sanford receives $1 million
The No. 4 women's tennis team crushed eight-ranked North Carolina 6-1 Thursday, improving to 15-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. The win was the second of the season for the Blue Devils over the Tar Heels - Duke also beat UNC en route to winning the ITA indoor tennis championship in February.
The eighth-ranked Blue Devils (6-2, 0-2 in the ACC) were downed 14-9 by No. 13 UNC (4-2, 1-0) yesterday in Chapel Hill. Duke dropped its second straight to the Tar Heels, who have won three consecutive games, along with its second conference game of the season.

Duke University President Nan Keohane has announced her intention to step down in June 2004, after informing the full Board of Trustees Saturday, March 1.
