Despite battling back from a 10-point deficit in the final five minutes of Tuesday night's matchup against No. 7 Kansas, top-ranked Duke suffered its first loss of the season, falling 77-75 to the Jayhawks in New York. Sophomore Luke Kennard starred for the Blue Devils, tallying 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and nailing a pair of triples. Freshman Frank Jackson also hit two 3-pointers in the waning minutes, including a game-tying triple with 20 seconds left, but a contested jumper by Kansas' Frank Mason III in the closing seconds propelled the Jayhawks to victory.

Top-ranked Duke will be put to an early test Tuesday at about 9:30 p.m. against No. 7 Kansas at Madison Square Garden in New York in the Champions Classic. All eyes will be on freshman wing Josh Jackson for the Jayhawks, but three of the Blue Devils' most prized recruits will all likely be out with injuries. Duke has lost in the Champions Classic in two of the last three years and will look to reverse that trend with a statement win in its third game of the season.

Duke recovered from a slow start to cruise past Grand Canyon 96-61 Saturday night in its second win in as many days at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Grayson Allen and Frank Jackson both scored more than 46 points, as the Blue Devils' backcourt more than made up for the team's injuries in the post. Head coach Mike Krzyzewski said in his postgame press conference that he does not expect Jayson Tatum, Marques Bolden or Harry Giles to play Tuesday against No. 3 Kansas in New York.

Duke opens the season this weekend with home games on back to back days against Marist Friday at 7 p.m. and Grand Canyon Saturday 5:30 p.m. The Blue Devils are shorthanded in the frontcourt without Marques Bolden or Harry Giles, likely giving Chase Jeter and Javin DeLaurier more chances to get on the floor and make plays in the season's first two games.

The Blue Devils stunned No. 15 North Carolina for their first ACC win of the season Thursday night at Wallace Wade Stadium, rallying from a 14-0 deficit to win 28-27 and bring the Victory Bell back to Durham. After the Tar Heels scored touchdowns on three of their first four drives, Duke's defense kept them out of the end zone on their last seven possessions to put the Blue Devils in a position to win.

For the second week in a row, Duke climbed back from a big halftime deficit to take a game down to the wire, but the Blue Devils wound up losing by three again. No. 23 Virginia Tech beat the Blue Devils 24-21 Saturday, returning a blocked field goal for a touchdown in the second quarter to spark the win. Duke remains winless in the ACC at 0-5 with just three games left in the season.

UPDATE Dec. 8: The University announced Thursday that Fuquan James Wall, a Durham resident, has been arrested in connection with this robbery. He was arrested Nov. 19 on arrest warrants from the Duke University Police Department for robbery as well as on warrants issued by the Durham Police Department. He is currently being held at the Durham County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
