All-American Grayson Allen made one of his first 11 shots before connecting on a few drives to the hoop late in the game to finish 4-of-15 from the field.

Despite battling back from a 10-point deficit in the final five minutes of Tuesday night's matchup against No. 7 Kansas, top-ranked Duke suffered its first loss of the season, falling 77-75 to the Jayhawks in New York. Sophomore Luke Kennard starred for the Blue Devils, tallying 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and nailing a pair of triples. Freshman Frank Jackson also hit two 3-pointers in the waning minutes, including a game-tying triple with 20 seconds left, but a contested jumper by Kansas' Frank Mason III in the closing seconds propelled the Jayhawks to victory.

The Chronicle's Hank Tucker and Brian Pollack were at Madison Square Garden for the top-10 matchup and broke down Duke's comeback, its struggles with foul trouble and the positives the Blue Devils can take from the defeat as they move forward.
