7 Duke students among those arrested at UNC encampment

The eight Duke affiliates are included in the total count of 36 protesters who were detained, cited and held by UNC Police in Gerrard Hall on UNC’s campus the morning of April 30. Six of 36 were transported at 9 a.m. to the Orange County Courthouse, where they were released on bond with a written promise to appear in court at a later date. The 30 remaining in custody on campus were released on site within hours.

Duke Climate Coalition student leaders reflect on divestment activism and University responses

This year, DCC's activism included publishing a report on the extent of Duke research funded by the fossil fuel industry, holding multiple protests to demand the University cut ties with fossil fuel companies and sending over 50 students to a rally in New York City where they called on President Joseph Biden to declare a climate emergency.

Junior Year: 2022-2023

Junior year was one of new beginnings — a year marked by the implementation of QuadEx, the first seasons of two head coaches and the lifting of COVID-19 protocols that defined the beginning of the Class of 2024’s Duke experience.
