We all saw the email last week. K-Ville will play host to tenting once again, and the reassuring bit is supposed to be the increased testing and social distancing. Another set of headlines you likely saw last week was the national shortage in rapid tests. Duke has long been a contributor to this problem, stockpiling massive amounts of COVID tests to regularly test their student body and keep classes in person, but is about to become an even more offensive party—increasing the amount of tests withheld, not only during a testing shortage but also during a notable surge in infection rates. 



Supreme Court rules that eviction moratorium extends to K-Ville residents

News of a landmark Supreme Court ruling that extended the CDC’s eviction moratorium to residents of Krzyzewskiville swept across campus Friday morning. The decision was a rare 9-0 agreement amongst a heavily divided court, and included a majority opinion from liberal Justice Sotomayor, whose writing focused on the fundamental human right to housing, and supporting opinion from conservative Justice Kavanaugh, whose writing was barred from being published.


‘Masked and excited to be there’: COVID-19 cases remain low after parents enjoy an in-person family weekend

To many, walking around campus during family weekend felt like being transported back to pre-pandemic life. There were parents crowding the Bryan Center Plaza, visitors strolling through the Duke Gardens and K-Ville overflowing with Crazies waiting to be the first fans in Cameron Indoor Stadium in over 18 months.

Small Town Records to continue making music this spring

For years, Duke’s very own label and recording studio Small Town Records has been empowering young artists and giving students interested in the music industry the invaluable experience of creating music. Despite the immense challenges posed by the pandemic and the lack of in-person concerts, Small Town Records’s artists, producers and personnel have continued to do what they love and have a variety of projects slated for the spring semester.
