What’s the point of playing a fixed game? Perhaps the answer to that question is that politics are not a game at all, but for many people—particularly those of us who are not cis white men—a matter of life or death.
At times, I want to look away from the violence, the hatred, the darkness. But even having that choice is a testament to my privilege.
More importantly, we can learn from the love others have shown, the sacrifices others have made, the struggles we are all going through together.
It is no longer enough for us to use our privilege to recycle or post something to our Instagram story. The stakes are too high for such passive activism.
