No. 2-seed Duke field hockey falls in shootout to Boston College in ACC tournament semifinals

After a 2-0 result from a penalty shootout, No. 2-seed Duke fell to No. 3-seed Boston College Wednesday evening in Winston-Salem, N.C., ending the Blue Devils’ run in the 2024 ACC tournament. Duke beat Wake Forest on the same field the day prior in the tournament’s quarterfinals, and were hoping to face-off against rival and top-seeded North Carolina in the final for the second year in a row.

Duke field hockey splits pair of top-5 matchups in ACC/Big 10 Cup

After falling to the host team in Northwestern, the fifth-ranked Blue Devils (3-1) closed out the ACC/BIG 10 Cup with a 2-0 victory against No. 4 Maryland (3-1). Maryland was able to sustain offensive zone time throughout the competition until a lone goal in the third period by senior midfielder Josephine Palde cemented Duke’s first ranked win of the season.

Coming in at No. 4: Duke field hockey, after two years without a conference win, completely righted the ship, grabbing five ACC victories, a berth in the conference title game and a trip to the Final Four, the Blue Devils' first since 2015.
