Krzyzewski Unsatisfied With ACC Scheduling

(02/10/10 9:40am)

Duke has already faced Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Boston College twice this season, but plays two new opponents this week as the Blue Devils travel to Chapel Hill to take on the Tar Heels Wednesday and then face Maryland in Cameron on Saturday. While facing UNC for this first time this late in the ACC season is normal for Duke, head coach Mike Krzyzewski's side has also yet to face Miami (Fl.), Virginia Tech, and Virginia. Yesterday, Krzyzewski offered his thoughts on the scheduling:

Duke Transfer Olek Czyz Chooses Nevada

(01/13/10 7:27pm)

Last month, Olek Czyz announced that he was transferring from Duke and had been debating between Nevada and Arizona State over the past couple of weeks. By transferring in the middle of the season and enrolling in classes by January 22, Czyz becomes eligible to play in the second semester of next season. Yesterday, The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that Czyz has made his decision to play for the Wolfpack:

Duke Free Throw Shooting Continues To Impress

(01/03/10 5:09am)

While much of the focus on Duke basketball has centered on the Blue Devil's much improved front court (specifically Brian Zoubek) and senior Jon Scheyer's remarkable start to the season, the Blue Devil's excellent free throwing shooting has flown under the radar. The Blue Devil have shot 76 percent from the charity stripe this season (15th in all of college basketball) with Scheyer, Andre Dawkins, and Lance Thomas all shooting above 80 percent. Thomas' 81.5 clip is even better when you consider that the senior co-captain had not shot above 60 percent in any of his first three years at Duke.

Trey Zeigler Adds Duke To His List

(12/29/09 10:20pm)

Trey Zeigler -- a four-star, 6-foot-5 guard from Mount Pleasant, Mich -- has added Duke to his list of schools he's considering for next year. Zeigler is rated as the 26th overall recruit in the Class of 2010, but Duke is a latecomer to the race, joining Michigan, Michigan State, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Miami and Central Michigan in vying for the high school star.

Catching Up with Dave McClure

(12/19/09 4:38am)

Dave McClure graduated from Duke last year after playing for four years under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. McClure spent five years on the Duke Basketball team as he redshirted his sophomore season after a knee injury ended his year early. Over the course of his Duke career, McClure averaged 2.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He was drafted by the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League in the fifth round of last year's draft (60thoverall selection). The Chronicle's Danny Vinik spoke with McClure over the phone recently to discuss the D-League among other things.

Thomas an NBA Player?

(11/26/09 11:42pm)

Lance Thomas has been a steady performer for Duke throughout his four year career there, but he certainly has never been a star on the team. Thomas is averaging 6 points and 3.6 rebounds per-game so far this season, both career highs. Beyond that though, Thomas has taken on a major leadership role. He is co-captain along with Jon Scheyer and is the most vocal leader on the young team. Head coach Mike Krzyzewski has a particular liking for Thomas who is extremely flexible and willing to do anything for the team.
