Tired and sore, the Blue Devils continued to demonstrate their fortitude against hurricanes this weekend. Sheltered in Ambler Tennis Stadium and Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center to begin their last homestand of the season, No. 8 Duke was never fazed by the bumps in the road, pulling together to defeat No. 11 Miami 4-3 Friday and Florida State 6-1 Saturday in two key ACC matchups.

Rolling with the punches this week, No. 10 Duke proved its ability to adapt and overcome burgeoning challenges from its opponents. Only dropping one singles match, the Blue Devils wrapped up nonconference play with a 7-0 sweep of Northwestern before beating Syracuse 6-1 and finishing the weekend with another 7-0 sweep of Boston College.

With the cherry blossoms blooming and spring on the horizon, Duke is officially back in action. Last year, the Blue Devils’ campaign was a strong one as they continued to boost the program’s reputation under the guidance of head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno. After winning its sixth-consecutive Carolina Cup by sweeping all five races, Duke continued to have strong showings in its competitions with an 18-race sweep at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite. As a contender for the ACC title, the Blue Devils fell short of the crown, earning third place off an 82-point performance bolstered by a first-place Second Varsity Four finish. With their third-consecutive bid to the NCAA Championships, Duke placed 16th after three days of competition.

At the end of their first road trip of the season, the Blue Devils are left with a mixed bag. Duke finished its first trip to ITA National Team Indoors since the 2020 season 2-1 after losing in the first round to No. 15 Oklahoma and winning a pair of matches in the consolation bracket. 





Beck wins singles consolation draw at ITA National Fall Championships for Duke women's tennis

The Tobacco Road rivalry traveled to San Diego this weekend for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Fall Championships. Duke senior Chloe Beck defeated North Carolina’s Anika Yarlagadda in straight sets (6-1, 6-3) Sunday in the consolation championship. Beck was dominant in the tournament, advancing to the finals after defeating No. 2-seed Sarah Hamner of South Carolina in another straight-set 6-2, 7-6 victory Saturday.
