The first domino falls.

After redshirting this season in large part due to a nagging ankle injury — and surgery — that forced him to miss 13 games, sophomore center Christian Reeves told On3Sports Wednesday afternoon that he plans to enter the transfer portal, saving his three remaining years of eligibility for another program.

Reeves struggled for game time throughout his time in Durham, playing limited minutes behind the likes of Dereck Lively II, Kyle Filipowski and Ryan Young in the post. When he was on the floor, he played primarily in a support capacity, relieving the starters for moments of rest while not sacrificing size down low. Throughout 16 total games across his two seasons with Duke, Reeves averaged 1.6 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

Reeves' departure would mark the first of this offseason for the Blue Devils following their Elite Eight loss to N.C. State over the weekend, and the first outgoing transfer of head coach Jon Scheyer's tenure. With an incoming class stacked with big men, including top-overall recruit Cooper Flagg, projected lottery pick Khaman Maluach and four-star rookie Patrick Ngongba II, Reeves' prospects for minutes in 2024-25 were limited.

The program did not immediately respond to The Chronicle's request for comment.
