A man was arrested July 7 after allegedly breaking into a West Campus dormitory.

Todd Burdette, a 38-year-old man from Morrisville, N.C., broke into Few Quad HH while trying to hide from police, wrote Keith Lawrence, Duke’s executive director of news and communications, in an email.

He added that Burdette, who is not affiliated with Duke, was suspected of stealing a car off campus.

The arrest took place July 7 at 10:23 a.m. for breaking and entering in addition to resisting, delaying or obstructing a police officer, according to Duke’s police blotter.

Few Quad HH is not empty for the summer. Joe Gonzalez, assistant vice president of student affairs and dean for residential life, wrote in an email that several summer conference programs are being housed in Few.

This incident occurred just days after an unidentified individual was arrested for indecent exposure in Perkins Library. The individual allegedly committed the exposure June 24.

Almost two years ago, a DukeAlert was issued after two students found a middle-aged man in their West Campus dorm room, sparking concerns about Duke's security protocols.
