The Bryan Center's University Store was the site of attempted larceny Monday afternoon.

Duke University Police Department arrested two men for shoplifting from the University bookstore in the Bryan Center Tuesday afternoon.

The two men who were apprehended—neither resisted arrest—were not affiliated with the University, said DUPD Chief John Dailey.

He said that the men attempted to steal approximately $500 worth of merchandise.

"There's not much to say," Dailey said. "Two unaffiliated were seen shoplifting items from the store. Officers responded immediately and were able to apprehend the individuals.”

Krystal Brewer, a store employee, said that employees saw the men on cameras downstairs, then campus police came. She reported that the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m.

"A white guy and a black man in a wheelchair, and they were just riding around the University Store putting stuff in their book-bag, hats and stuff like that," Brewer said.

Rachel Chason and Sarah Kerman contributed reporting.
