Duke football unveils throwback helmets for Pinstripe Bowl

While trying to end a 54-year drought by winning a bowl game against Indiana, the Blue Devils will don helmets featuring a Devil decal that is almost 50 years old.

Duke will wear throwback helmets featuring a decal that was used from 1966 until 1969, the team announced on Twitter Monday afternoon. The Blue Devils take on the Hoosiers in the Pinstripe Bowl Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Yankee Stadium in New York.

Duke is making its fourth straight bowl appearance under head coach David Cutcliffe and hoping to bounce back after three consecutive postseason losses and dropping four of its last five games.

Sports Channel 8 also created mock alternate helmets for Indiana Monday, putting a photo of Hoosier men's basketball head coach Tom Crean on a red helmet.
