Future Duke basketball teammates Quinn Cook and Amile Jefferson put on a dominating performance Tuesday night at the N.C. Pro Am held at North Carolina Central University. Enjoying a twenty-point lead for most of the game, the duo scored a combined 53 points in Dreamworks’ 95-80 victory over 751 South.
Jefferson, a freshman the No. 25 recruit in the country according to ESPN.com, took advantage of poor transition defense to throw down a number of two-hand slams on fast breaks. He was also was able to score of the dribble, finishing aggressive drives to the bucket with pretty finishes using both hands. The freshman missed just two shots from the field en route to a game-high 29 points.

While Jefferson was efficient, Cook put on a show. The sophomore guard employed all his offensive weapons—ankle-breaking crossovers, beautiful mid-range finishes fading away from the basket, strong drives leading to finger roll finishes or no-look assists, three-pointers from well beyond the arc and finished the game with 24 points despite sitting for at least a quarter of the game. During one stretch in the second quarter, Cook put up ten straight points on four buckets, culminating in a deep three-point attempt that he swished despite having a defender’s hand in his face almost 30 feet from the bucket.

It’s just a summer league, but the second game of the N.C. Pro Am Tuesday night undoubtedly gave Duke fans something to look forward to in the fall.
