Freshman Catanach enjoys career day in Duke victory

Freshman Kellie Catanach had a career day as the Blue Devils rebounded from a shutout loss to edge Florida State 3-2 Sunday in Tallahasse, Fla.

Catanach collected a career-high 62 assists and also contributed 17 digs as Duke won the last two sets to thwart a weekend sweep. Its 1-1 record dropped the Blue Devils (18-7, 9-4 in the ACC) to a three-way tie for second place in the ACC behind Clemson.

More than 42 percent of Catanach's sets went for kills. She picked up eight of her 62 assists in the critical win in the final set.

Junior Rachael Moss led Duke with 20 kills against Florida State (15-8, 7-6). Moss was Catanach's favorite target in the win, as Moss attempted 52 attacks in the victory.

The Blue Devils were shut out Friday night in Miami to the fifth-place Hurricanes (20-5, 8-4).
