Krzyzewski Meets With The Media

Men's basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski met with the media for 30 minutes Tuesday, discussing everything from the upcoming Olympics in Beijing to Duke recruiting. Before the general press conference, Krzyzewski sat down for an exclusive interview with The Chronicle for 45 minutes, and we'll post excerpts of our interview with him over the next few days.

Some notes from the general presser:

  • The Olympic team will be announced Monday in Chicago, where Krzyzewski will fly Sunday night to meet with Managing Director Jerry Colangelo.
  • Krzyzewski thinks the age requirement to declare for the NBA should be changed. He said high school players should be able to declare for the draft (almost half of his Olympic squad never went to college), and if they enroll in college, they should be required to stay for two years and complete real work toward a degree.

More later.
