Dockery's buzzer-beater gives Duke win over Hokies

Sean Dockery hit a 40-foot shot to give Duke a 77-75 victory over unranked Virginia Tech Sunday night.

With less than two seconds on the clock, freshman Josh McRoberts slung the ball downcourt to Dockery, who caught the pass at half court. Dockery took one dribble and released the shot over the outstretched hand of Virginia Tech guard Shawn Harris. Duke players rushed to celebrate with the senior point guard and the student body stormed the court to join the celebration.

The Blue Devils (7-0, 1-0 in the ACC) squandered an 11-point lead during the final four minutes to allow the Hokies (5-3, 0-1) to get back in the game. Virginia Tech center Coleman Collins had tipped in a missed layup by Zabian Dowdell with 1.6 seconds remaining to put the Hokies up 75-74.
