OIT restores cable to most; outage cause still unknown

Director of Information Technology Ginny Cake wrote in an e-mail Thursday that the cause of the campus-wide cable outage is currently unknown.

 The University experienced the disruption at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. "Our first priority was to restore service and now the technical team is reviewing what happened and outlining options for ensuring this doesn't happen again," Cake wrote.

 Service was restored to most students by 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, but because OIT fixed the problem manually, some may still be experiencing difficulties. Any students whose service is still disrupted should call the OIT Help Desk at 684-2200. --Aaron Levine
