ARTS: NOW SHOWING - Gint

Life with a total lack of self-awareness oftentimes doesn't sound that bad to students like us who constantly obsess over the minutiae of our daily lives. How often do you wish the cliche "ignorance is bliss" actually applied to you?

Well, apparently, there's a downside to going through life without a care, too, and Gint, the Duke Players' latest production, explores this theme. Written by Romulus Linney and based on the Ibsen classic Peer Gynt, the play tracks the life of Pete Gint, a good ol' Appalachian boy who skips town, gets rich and, toward the end of his life, realizes that he has no idea who he really is.

It's a topic well-worth exploring, and a play well-worth seeing, although you, like me, will never be able to outrun the trivial.
