cameron Concourse to bear Bubas' name

The soon-to-be refurbished concourse in Cameron Indoor Stadium will be named after former Duke basketball coach Vic Bubas, athletics director Joe Alleva said in a statement Saturday.

The refurbishment is set to coincide with completion of the Schwartz/Butters Athletic Center and will be dedicated as the Vic Bubas Concourse around the first home game in November. The project, which will be headed by former All-America Jeff Mullins and cost about $1 million, will include better lighting, new floor covering and memorabilia commemorating Duke's basketball history.

Bubas earned a 213-67 record in 10 years as Duke's head coach, leading the team to three Final Fours and four ACC titles from 1960-69. He also scored the first basket in Reynolds Coliseum as a player at N.C. State.
