We, students affiliated with the Women’s Center of Duke University, stand in solidarity with Duke University workers and the demands made to the administration not only in light of the recent violence from Tallman Trask, but in light of the violence historically faced by brown and black workers. We refuse to be silent in times of discrimination and abuse of power.

After four years of constant DSG, I have finally come to the conclusion that each of you has understood since the end of O-week: DSG is completely powerless. In the last couple of weeks, two high level administrators independently told me that DSG does not speak for the student body because DSG is not representative of the student body.

Last Wednesday, DSG made the Catholic Center pay over $2,000 out of pocket. We didn’t force the expense on the Catholic Center because we thought the event they put on was a bad idea; we simply failed to vote on their appeal for help.
