IFC endorses Tara Bansal for DSG president

It is with great pleasure that I announce that Duke’s Interfraternity Council enthusiastically endorses Tara Bansal for Duke Student Government President. While all three candidates demonstrated impressive platforms, Tara’s previous work, comprehensive platform, and nuanced understanding of the issues facing the undergraduate student body speak volumes as to what she might be able to accomplish as President. Her ability to work within an already inflexible housing model to create the first new housing option at Duke in decades illustrates that she has and will achieve results. As to what we are confident she will be able to accomplish as President, Bansal’s work in developing the new curriculum as well as re-executing and modernizing the New York Times Readership program shows an impassioned dedication to the interests of the student body as a whole.

With respect to the specific concerns of our council, Bansal understood the issues that affect us most including housing, conduct, and DSG’s perception to students. She demonstrated a genuine knowledge of RGAC and the problems that arise when IFC is not given a voice in the rules that govern them. She also possesses extensive knowledge about the inconsistencies of the student conduct process and addressed our concern that no trial is a fair one without access to previous cases, proper representation, and enforcement consistency. To all IFC members, I strongly encourage you to vote Tara Bansal. She is ready to make Duke Student Government live up to its potential for not just the Greek community, but all undergraduates.
