When I kick it with Dr. Emmitt Brown, who in 1985 perfected a time machine, we go out cruising in his DeLorean Friday nights, blasting Huey Lewis and the News. Sometimes we hit 88 miles per hour, thrusting us into the middle of Durham sometime in the future. Dressed in a puffy 80s vest, Sy-(Snootles)--and-the-Rambli(Root-Beer)-Gnome collects some Chronicles from these future years, and this weekend we stumbled upon an interesting future trend here at Duke. Apparently, the Second Annual Allen Building Lock-In on Feb. 1 began a misguided trend of revitalizing the Allen Building Takeover concept, though for somewhat less worthwhile purposes. Just so THEODORE HUXTABLE'S PROTEGE could help quell this trend, I have enclosed four different Chronicle articles from the next decade describing the Worst Ever Future Allen Building Takeovers.

The win inside fired the Blue Devils' confidence, and the students outside fired up the benches.

As if the crazy towel guy were not enough inspiration at Duke men's basketball games, the student body has acquired a first-class fanatic of its own. Attending virtually every men's basketball game in the past two years in a referee shirt, blue cape and blue hair is Pasha Majdi, a truly energetic Cameron Crazie.

There are currently over 1,000 tenters lined up for Wednesday's UNC game, but there is still room for a few hundred people to be let in from the walk-up line after all of the tenting students have been let it. The line should form with students exiting the line only to attend class, get food and attend to human needs. Soon after the line has formed, the line monitors will arrive to register the people in the line. Each individual in the line may register along with one friend, forming a two-person group. At the time of registration, only one person from the group needs to be present. Line monitors will return to the line at random, unannounced times to perform checks of the line. Each group must have at least one of its two members present at all times. At each check, new groups will be registered at the end of the list in the order they are in the line. Any group missing a check will be moved to the end of the line, behind the new groups registering at that check. There is no guaranteed grace period following checks of the walk-up line.

Residents of the Krzyzewskiville tent city often claim to be the most "hard-core" part of the student body, annually facing inclement weather, long lines and early-morning wake-up calls.

This Saturday, the men's basketball team will face off against Georgia Tech at noon in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Admission into Cameron will occur through the walk-up line. You can begin lining up for the game at the back entrance of Cameron on the sidewalk running in front of Card Gymnasium and Wilson Recreation Center whenever you wish. Once a significant number of people are in the line, the line monitors will register groups of up to 12 people. Two hours prior to the game, all individuals in registered groups must be in line so that I may begin admitting people into the stadium. The tenting season is in full swing.

As the tents begin to sink in K-Ville under the snowfall, the heat of the long standing Duke-North Carolina rivalry threatens to boil over. Monday, the women's basketball team will take on the No. 8 Tar Heels (14-1, 4-0 in the ACC) looking to advance their undefeated season to 17-0 and 5-0 in conference play.

It did not take long for the men's and women's swimming teams to get back in the swing of things after their six week break when they hosted Davidson Saturday. The weaker competition did not hurt, either.

The No. 1 ranked men's basketball team begins home conference play this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. against undefeated Wake Forest. As with all other weekend games, admission into Cameron Indoor Stadium will occur through the walk-up line. You can begin lining up for the game at the back entrance of Cameron on the sidewalk running in front of Card Gymnasium and Wilson Recreation Center whenever you wish. As the semester is drawing to a close, the basketball season is just warming up. There are three very important issues I want to make students aware of that involve attending games in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Dead, Dylan and the Doobie Brothers have all jammed there. Santana, the Allman Brothers and the Boss have packed the house. And Feb. 7, another band will add its name to the list of those who have played to thousands of screaming students in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Departing from a long tradition, Head Line Monitor Jeremy Morgan will be accepting applications from students who wish to serve as line monitors for Krzyzewskiville this basketball tenting season. Past head line monitors have generally selected their friends to be line monitors, a most undesirable form of favoritism.

Bill English, in his column "What is a University?," raised concerns we all share. But a few favorable trends at our University ought to be recognized in the face of English's criticism.
