Before Duke won its last ACC game in November of 1999, Chris Douglas and the rest of the current fifth-year seniors stood on the sidelines of Wallace Wade as redshirt freshmen. They watched as their eldest teammates were honored on Senior Day, and they watched as Duke defeated Wake Forest.

After Friday night's shutout loss to Florida State, women's soccer coach Robbie Church vowed there would be changes to his offense. Wednesday night in Cary, N.C., the changes paid off for the No. 18 Blue Devils (9-4-1, 2-2 in the ACC) with a 3-1 win over N.C. State (7-6-1, 0-4).
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Linebacker Ryan Fowler triumphantly held the ball in the air and pointed it toward the Duke end zone, displaying his prize for stripping Maryland running back Bruce Perry and falling on the fumble. The crowd of 50,084 fans in Byrd Stadium fell so silent you could almost hear the air rushing out of their Thundersticks. Though the Blue Devils (2-4, 0-3 in the ACC) trailed 20-0, the momentum seemed to have swung and Duke appeared ready to capitalize.
With a dominating 2-0 victory over No. 7 Michigan State (5-3), the No. 4 field hockey team (6-1) defeated its second top-10 opponent in two days, and is well on its way to realizing its goal of reaching the nation's upper echelon. After controlling the Spartans for the first half, but failing to capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities, the Blue Devils took the lead 43 seconds into the second half. Katie Grant dribbled down the right side on a partial fast break and knocked the ball past the goalie into the right side of the net.
