Duke women's soccer 2013 season preview

The Scoop: The Blue Devils return their top four scorers from last season’s powerhouse of an offense, but will need new faces to step up on the back line and in goal to make a deep playoff run. With injuries to midfielders Gilda Doria and Cassie Pecht—the team’s two leaders in assists last season—Duke will also have to find another playmaker to organize the offense.





McCallie continues on championship quest for Duke women's basketball

Duke women’s basketball head coach Joanne P. McCallie has led the Blue Devils to four consecutive Elite Eight appearances. On April 19, McCallie received a contract extension through the 2018-19 season. The Chronicle’s Matt Pun had the opportunity speak to McCallie about next year’s squad and what it will take to reach her first Final Four at Duke.











Men's tennis head coach Ramsey Smith hits 100-win mark

With Duke’s 7-0 win over No. 19 Clemson Saturday, Ramsey Smith earned his 100th win as the team’s head coach in just his fifth year on the job. A former standout player for the Blue Devils from 1997-2001, Smith also became the first person in program history to win 100 singles matches and 100 doubles matches, as well as 100 matches as a coach.


'Excited' Alexis Jones leads Duke women's basketball to first-round win

The large Hampton fan base at Cameron Indoor Stadium erupted in cheers when the 15th-seeded Lady Pirates—gunning for a first-round upset against second-seeded Duke—scored the game’s opening bucket on an easy lay-in. When Alexis Jones scored on her first shot of the day to tie the game, she turned to the home crowd and leapt up in the air to let the opposing crowd know that they were in her house.
