LIVE BLOG: Duke 81, Miami 74 (FINAL)

(02/18/10 4:36am)

Duke 81, Miami 74, Final: Miami couldn't weather the storm that Duke brought out of the locker room after half time, and the Blue Devils will pick up a hard-fought road win tonight behind 22 points from Kyle Singler and 21 from Nolan Smith. Both players really picked up their games in the second half, and Scheyer made some timely 3-pointers as well when Miami threatened to regain the lead. It was great to see Singler take over the game right after intermission, and he certainly played like an All-American for those first two minutes of the period as well as the rest of the half. Duke showed great resilience overall tonight in rallying from a substantial halftime deficit, and games like this one can only help the Blue Devils as they approach March and the Big Dance.

LIVE BLOG: Duke 70, Florida State 56 (FINAL)

(01/28/10 6:56am)

Duke 70, Florida State 56, Final: Duke moves to 5-2 in the ACC with tonight's victory, showing great resilience as the Blue Devils fought off a 12-0 run from the Seminoles midway through the second half. Scheyer arguably had the best performance of the night, posting 22 points, but Singler stayed right with him, putting up 20 of his own. If Singler can build off this strong outing and continue taking and making quality shots in future games, Duke will no doubt cement itself at the top of the conference standings by the end of the regular season.

Your Pocket Guide to Duke-Clemson

(01/24/10 12:37am)

The No. 7 Blue Devils will look to avoid losing their third straight ACC road game when they take on No. 17 Clemson tonight at 9 pm. Duke won the first meeting between the two teams 74-53 back on January 3, but tonight's game should be much closer as the Blue Devils have yet to prove they can win conference games away from Cameron Indoor Stadium. Here's what you should know before tip-off:

LIVE BLOG: Duke 69, Virginia Tech 38 (Final)

(01/22/10 5:02am)

Duke 69, Virginia Tech 38, Final: In the end, turnovers proved to be the difference in this game, as the Blue Devils only committed four in the second half, while the Hokies put up 13. The Blue Devils racked up an impressive 28 points off those takeaways and dominated the paint as well, outscoring Tech 36-14 in the land. Duke also found its shooting touch in the second half, shooting 60% from the field, compared to 27.3% for Tech. Virginia Tech's 38 points is a school-record low in ACC play, a testament to Duke's stifling defense. Indeed, the Blue Devils had 19 steals overall and seemed to simply want the ball more than the Hokies. Krystal Thomas led the team with 17 points and six rebounds, while Jasmine Thomas chipped in 14 points and six steals.  All in all, a great turnaround effort after the tough loss to UCONN on Monday.

LIVE BLOG: Duke 83, Ohio State 67 (Final)

(12/04/09 4:41am)

Duke 81, Ohio State 64, 1:07 second half: Put this one in the books.  Duke will pick up a major resume-building win tonight behind a career night from Jasmine Thomas, who has eclipsed her previous scoring high of 26 with 29 in this contest.  She made tough baskets in the clutch and accelerated through contact to rack up a bunch of tough 3-point plays.  Fittingly, she just stole the Buckeye inbounds pass to ice the game.

LIVE BLOG: Duke 101, Charlotte 59 (FINAL)

(11/18/09 3:50am)

Duke 101, Charlotte 59, Final: The Blue Devils finished with four players in double figures, led by Nolan Smith with 24. Duke shot a solid 52.9% from the field, an impressive 57.1% from 3-point range and scored 29 points off 17 Charlotte turnovers. Singler couldn't score 20 for the third straight game, but he came close with 17. All in all, a great turnaround performance for Duke after a less-than-impressive victory, albeit by 25 points, over Coastal Carolina last night.

LIVE BLOG: Duke 49, N.C. Central 14 (FINAL)

(09/27/09 3:07am)

FINAL: Duke 49, N.C. Central 14: The Blue Devils are victorious in the first-ever Bull City Gridiron Classic. The sky is falling as both teams gather in the center of the field, and Duke looks all too eager to head into the tunnel after such a wet contest. Coach Cutcliffe will certainly be happy with the team's rushing output, as Duke picked up 233 yards on the ground, the team's highest tally since it rushed for 218 yards in last year's season opener against James Madison.

LIVE BLOG: Duke-Maryland

(02/23/09 2:26am)

DUKE 59, MARYLAND 77, FINAL: That does it here at the Comcast Center. Duke will drop to third place in the ACC and Maryland moves to second place outright. Toliver came up one point shy of her career high, pouring in 34 thanks to seven 3-pointers and 12-21 shooting. With her 24 points, Marissa Coleman became the 8th player in UMD history with 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Overall, Maryland shot 62.5% in the second half, and outscored Duke 46-26 in the period. The Terps outrebounded the Blue Devils 43-38 and dominated them in transition, leading 10-0 in fastbreak points.

LIVE BLOG: Duke 61, N.C. State 58 (FINAL)

(01/20/09 3:07am)

DUKE 61, STATE 58, FINAL: Brittany Strachan gets an open look at a 3-pointer but can't knock it down. Duke will escape Raleigh with a narrow victory against a State team that never gave up and gave the Blue Devils a serious scare with hot shooting in the game's early stages. But Duke outscored the Wolfpack 34-22 in the second half and overtime period, and will move to 4-0 in the ACC with the win.

That’s a rap

(04/30/12 4:00am)

For the past four years, I have lived a double life. When I arrived on campus as a wide-eyed freshman, I was simply known as Jeff—a quiet, reserved inhabitant of the notoriously rambunctious Aycock residence hall. But as the year progressed, I came into my comfort zone and started showing more and more people my hidden talent: rapping.
