Chicago high school basketball prodigy and Duke target Jabari Parker will add to his illustrious resume next month when becomes the first high school basketball player since Lebron James to be feature on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The cover refers to Parker as “best high school basketball player since LeBron James," with a picture courtesy of Chicago Hoops.

After a long, drawn out recruitment, Amile Jefferson committed to Duke over N.C. State, Kentucky, Ohio State, and Villanova, among others, Tuesday afternoon. Picking up Jefferson this late in the year was crucial for Duke as they were desperately trying to avoid a one-man 2012 recruiting class of only Rasheed Sulaimon.

Over the course of last week, the Blue Devil coaching staff extended scholarship offers to 2013 targets Ishmail Wainright, Marcus Lee, Allerik Freeman and Austin Nichols. Now, Duke now has total of seven scholarship offers out in the class of 2013 with Jabari Parker, Julius Randle and Matt Jones, who has committed to Duke, also holding offers.

Last fall the NCAA revamped its college basketball recruiting regulations. Now, college coaches are allowed to evaluate recruits during the month of April. The Duke coaching took advantage of the new rule change as they spent last week traveling all over the country to track their 2013 and 2014 targets.

Last week, the second-ranked player in the class of 2012 narrowed his list of schools down to UCLA, Kentucky and Duke. Muhammad was dominant last week at the McDonald’s All American Game, finishing with 21 points and six rebounds to earn the MVP award.

On Monday, Duke officials announced freshman combo guard Austin Rivers will enter the NBA and hire an agent forgoing his final three years of collegiate eligibility. In this year's draft, Rivers will be one of the more intriguing prospects. Rivers possesses the necessary confidence, quick first step, ability to create and work ethic to be a successful professional. NBA scouts, however, are worried that he will be limited at the next level due to his lack of a true position, small frame and unconventional jump shot mechanics.

According to his Twitter account @tzig0, Trey Zeigler will be in Durham this weekend to officially visit Duke after being granted permission to transfer by Central Michigan University. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard requested a release from Central Michigan after his father and head coach, Ernie Zeigler, was recently fired by the university.

According to various sources, Shabazz Muhammad is expected take his fifth and final official visit to UCLA at the beginning of April. Internet rumors continue to swirl stating that Muhammad will take his talents to Westwood for what will likely be his only year of college basketball. If Muhammad goes to UCLA, he will be joined by point forward Kyle Anderson, who is the fourth ranked player in 2012 according to ESPN, and potentially Tony Parker. The Las Vegas product has already taken official visits to Texas A&M, Kentucky, Kansas and Duke, while UNLV and Arizona are also in the mix. The first day of the spring signing period is April 11th and Muhammad is expected to announce his college decision and sign at that time.
