After two road wins against Wake Forest and Florida State, the Blue Devils (20-2, 7-2 in the ACC) returned to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a rematch against N.C. State (16-7, 5-5). The Wolfpack handed Duke its first defeat on Jan. 12 in the first game without forward Ryan Kelly. This time around the Blue Devils were able to have some revenge, defeating N.C. State 98-85.
In the 2011 season Duke reached the final of the College Cup and narrowly lost 1-0, despite being unranked in the preseason. This year the Blue Devils will start the season off higher than they have ever been in school history, at the lofty heights of No. 2, after the NSCAA released its preseason poll Tuesday.
The Duke football team has opened its training camp, hoping that this season will end with a trip to a bowl game.
After a busy summer of recruiting, camps and more recruiting, Duke head coach Robbie Church has now begun preparing the Blue Devils for the upcoming season after preseason began last Thursday.
Amid all the fanfare that came from the medal-winning performances of Blue Devils Abby Johnston and Nick McCrory at the London Olympics, another Olympian with ties to the university has been overlooked. Hiroshi Hoketsu of Japan, who at age 71 is the oldest competitor at the games, graduated from Duke with a master’s degree in economics in 1968, according to this story from Duke Magazine.
Freshmen and future Blue Devils Amile Jefferson and Rasheed Sulaimon, playing for Team Dreamworks at the NC Pro-Am, came up against an opponent who has had a very illustrious career, former Tar Heel and 2004 NBA Champion Rasheed Wallace. The pair came up short, however, as Wallace's Sheraton Imperial squad prevailed 77-70.
Sophomores Natasha Anasi, Kaitlyn Kerr and Laura Weinberg have been selected for training with the US U-23 national team from Jan. 15-22 in Sarasota, Fla. after strong seasons from all three players leading the Blue Devils to the College Cup final for the first time since 1992.
After a stellar season with six goals and a conference-high 11 assists, sophomore Mollie Pathman has been rewarded with an invitation to train with the United States Under-20 National Team between January 5-19 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif..
This season the Blue Devils had a school-record 22 wins, including eight in the conference, and won the program's second-ever ACC regular season title. After setting these records on their way to the national championship game, Natasha Anasi, Kelly Cobb and head coach Robbie Church have been recognized by Soccer America for Duke's outstanding season.

A hard-fought 2-0 win over Long Beach State earned Duke a place in the NCAA tournament semifinals for the first time since 1992, and the second time in its history.
Up one point with less than 30 seconds to play, Andre Dawkins received the ball at the top of the arc and sank a clutch 3-pointer from well beyond the arc, giving the Blue Devils a four-point lead the Bruins could not overcome.
The Blue Devils have been extremely successful as a team this season, winning the conference regular season title for only the second time in program history—but now the individual awards are also starting to roll in. Head coach Robbie Church was named ACC coach of the year, and sophomore Natasha Anasi named ACC defensive player of the year.

When people think of Duke sports, the thought of basketball and Cameron Indoor Stadium generally comes up. If that’s not the first thought, then it’s probably football, especially in the early fall. But people may not know that there are 26 different teams representing the Blue Devils in sports ranging from volleyball to field hockey to wrestling.
Down by 13 points at halftime, the Blue Devils’ faced their largest halftime deficit of the season.
The team aspect of collegiate tennis was very apparent in the Blue Devils’ narrow loss to No. 1 Virginia (13-0, 3-0 in the ACC) Friday.
