After graduation next month, plenty of seniors will be heading off to medical school and law school. Some will have lower-level jobs and internships, in hopes of rising up in the world over time. Then you'll have two other fairly large groups of graduates: the cats and the squirrels.

There are three kinds of people in the world. People with too many food points, people with just enough food points and people with so few food points they give up eating on, say, Tuesdays and Thursdays in an effort to be able to eat during finals.

It kind of reminded me of a car accident in that it had that "this-is-ugly-and-I-probably-shouldn't-be-watching-but-I'm-going-to-stare-anyways" quality.

It's one of those statistics I was told to look at when applying for colleges: percentage of classes taught by a professor. Not a grad student. Not a teaching assistant. A Ph.D.-ed professor. As I understood it at the time, professor = good, anything else = bad.

I'm a certifiable dork. There's really no question about it. If you follow my columns at all, you've probably figured that out. I'm thinking about a math major and I wrote an entire column in defense of Latin. Need I say more? It's really a wonder that I have any friends at all.

This week's procrastination tool/very important and life-enhancing goal: complete study abroad applications.

There is one college interview that I will never forget. Before discussing anything, the interviewer asked me to fill out a simple form explaining some of my "top three's"-interests, high school clubs, potential majors, that sort of thing-as some basic talking points.

I hate it here. Okay, so that's a blatant lie, but I've been thinking it on rare occasions. What I really mean is that I'm finding sophomore year much more stressful than freshman year. Maybe the so-called "Sophomore Slump" really does exist. I discover myself counting down the days till I'm home for Thanksgiving Break much too often and sometimes wondering if I even should have come here at all.

As I type this-wearing my K-ville Resident shirt from last year-I feel like a fraud.

There is something almost sacred about the experience.

I was used. And I enjoyed it. I even learned a lot from it. Please allow me to clarify.

I know Priya Patel. Yes, the Priya Patel. You know, the one who had a goal post land on her head on Saturday.

Dearest freshmen:

The first time I met Duke Student Government President Elliott Wolf, a junior, I was less than impressed. He was sweaty, muddy and late. A bit of a biking fiasco had caused him to show up to the DSG meeting in this messy state. He would have to accomplish a lot throughout the year to get me to overcome that first impression of him.

I've been to a lot of Duke Student Government meetings this year, and let me tell you, they are not exactly the highlight of my week. Don't get me wrong, I find DSG very intriguing. But the meetings themselves are, well, boring.

After the fact, when asked about the March 6 Duke Student Government Town Hall meeting regarding the Campus Culture Initiative, I believe DSG Chief of Staff Paul Slattery, a junior, put it best: "It was productive that we at least had a meeting."

It was Valentine's Day, at about the time when you should be out with your significant other for a nice, romantic dinner. So, of course, I was doing work in Perkins. Duke Student Government Executive Vice President Joe Fore, a senior, saw me at work on a computer.

The Final Four. We're talking months of planning and hard work that came down to four contenders: seniors Ben Abram, Chrissie Gorman, David Snider and Jimmy Soni.

Two simple words: "funding" and "selective." The issue: the interpretation of these two words as they apply to the Student Organization Finance Committee's ability to grant student groups "Charter" status.

I would venture to guess that there are few people who would not enjoy Disney World. Maybe Splash Mountain isn't your thing, but hey, there's always Space Mountain. Maybe you don't like the rides so much, but those shows (oh, Indiana Jones!) catch your attention. Maybe you just like riding inside the Epcot ball. Whatever it is, there's something for everyone.
