Duke's Heatwave Concert was Friday, August 30th, and the performers brought the heat. Duke Small Town Record's FLONERS opened for rapper Rico Nasty, who headlined the Heatwave Concert, wrapping up Dukes's First Big Week. Democratic presidential Candidate Kamala Harris was in Durham last Saturday as the keynote speaker for the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People's Founders' Day Banquet. Senator Harris (D-CA) was introduced by Representative G.K. Butterfield (D-NC). NC Governor Roy Cooper and Chief Justice Cheri Beasley of the NC Supreme Court were also in attendance at an event that honors community members and awards scholarships to students from Durham.
