What to know about staying on-campus this fall break

With break just around the corner, here’s a look at how Duke facilities will be operating from Saturday through next Wednesday. 

Duke Dining

While some West Campus dining locations will be closed, including Red Mango Cafe and The Freeman Center for Jewish Life, most will remain open throughout the break. 

Some Duke Dining locations will have changes in hours of operation.

Marketplace will be closed Saturday through Monday and open again at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Pitchfork’s will close at midnight on Sunday and Monday, and will open at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

In the Western Union dining hall, Farmstead, Ginger & Soy, Gyotaku, JB’s Roast and Chops, Panera and Tandoor will remain open with their regular hours. 

Bella Union, Beyu Blue, It’s Thyme, Red Mango Cafe, The Commons, Trinity Cafe, Twinnie’s, Zweli’s Cafe and Saladelia Cafe at Perkins and Sanford will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. 

On Monday, Bella Union, Gothic Grill, It’s Thyme, Red Mango Cafe, Saladelia Cafe at Sanford and Trinity Cafe will be closed.

On Tuesday, It’s Thyme, Red Mango Cafe, Saladelia Cafe at Sanford will be closed.

Housing and transportation

Students on East and West Campus residents will have access to their own residence halls and quads during fall break.

Duke Parking and Transportation told The Chronicle that there “may be some modifications” to transit service. Updated information can be found on their website and the buses can be monitored via TransLoc

Recreational facilities and Student Health

Wilson Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Brodie Gym will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday,

Student Health will operate at normal hours, closed on Saturday and Sunday and open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

Libraries and mail services

Several libraries will have modified hours over the break. On Saturday and Sunday, Perkins, Bostock, Rubenstein and Lilly Libraries will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

The libraries will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday then resume their regular hours on Tuesday. 

The Duke Student Mailbox Center package desk will remain open during its regular hours.
