Building on its remarkable season, Duke gained a slew of accolades Monday, as five members of the squad and head coach Pam Bustin, earned ACC awards, with sophomore forward Alaina McVeigh, senior goalie Piper Hampsch and Bustin receiving individual recognition. Graduate student Mary Harkins and junior Kira Curland both received All-ACC second-team spots as well for their first career ACC honors.

Alongside her inclusion on the All-ACC first team, McVeigh was named the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Year with Boston College’s Margo Calin, after scoring 16 goals in the regular season. McVeigh, who was out the entirety of last season due to injury, scored in 13 out of 17 games this season, including key goals like the overtime winner against then-No. 9 Liberty in September. McVeigh represents only the second Blue Devil to receive ACC Offensive Player of the Year, the first being Katie Grant in 2005.

Receiving her first ACC Goalkeeper of the Year award, Hampsch caps off the best season of her collegiate career. She leads the league with a .769 save percentage in addition to having a career-high six shutouts this season. Hampsch has 266 saves across her collegiate career, tying her for seventh in Duke history and only five stops away from the No. 5 spot.

Bustin, in her 13th season with the Blue Devils, collected her third ACC Coach of the Year recognition, as voted in her by peers. Despite Duke starting the season predicted to finish last in the ACC, Bustin led the team to an 11-game winning streak, a season-high No. 2 ranking and a 5-1 ACC record, culminating in a share of the regular-season conference title.

McVeigh and Hampsch were joined on the All-ACC first team by graduate student Hannah Miller, who had a spot on the All-ACC team in 2022. She has started all 89 games of her career and has six goals to her name this season and leads the ACC in assists with nine.

In spite of the recognition, the real work starts now for Duke, who will compete for the ACC Championship starting Tuesday against Wake Forest.
