In a special edition of Beyond the Arc, the Blue Zone details down every single-game record that No. 1 Duke set or came close to breaking in its 124-67 rout of St. Francis.
1. Program-record 34 assists
Spearheaded by point guard Trevon Duval's 11 assists, the Blue Devils broke the school record of 33 assists in a game set in 1986 against Miami. Naturally, it was a team effort—Grayson Allen pitched in six, Jordan Goldwire added five, and every player on the roster but Jack White, Brennan Besser and Jordan Tucker had at least one assist.
2. Second-most points in a half with 71
After scoring 71 in the first half, Duke was just one point shy of tying the school record of 72 points, which it had done twice—against Virginia in 1965 and Harvard in 1989. If the Blue Devils had shot better from the line—they finished 9-of-13 in the first half—or if Javin DeLaurier hit a short shot at the buzzer, they could have broken the record.
3. Fifth-most points in single game
The lowly 1965 Virginia squad was also a part in this record too—Duke was just 12 points shy of tying its all-time single-game scoring record, set with 136 against the Cavaliers. It was also behind just a 130-point outing against Harvard in 1989, 126 against Mercer in 1997 and 125 against East Carolina in 1990. The Blue Devils had five players with more than 14 points and seven with nine or more.
4. Mike Buckmire's career-high three points, one assist
Buckmire hadn't seen the floor all season, but made an impact in his two minutes, hitting an and-one layup after Justin Robinson swatted away a layup.
5. All the other career highs—there are a lot
Marques Bolden set a career high with 17 points and tied a career high with 10 boards, Javin DeLaurier set a career high with nine points, Justin Robinson set career highs with five points, three blocks and eight minutes, Goldwire set a career high with five points and Tucker scored his first six points in a Duke uniform.
