Before he retired, Peyton Manning often worked out at Duke in the offseason because of his relationship with Blue Devil football head coach David Cutcliffe.

Gatorade has released a new commercial that highlights Duke football head coach David Cutcliffe’s long-standing relationship with NFL quarterback Peyton Manning.

The segment honors Manning—who retired in March after winning a second Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos—as his former coaches, teammates, friends and family read letters that they have received from the former NFL star.

Cutcliffe—a former Tennessee offensive coordinator—coached Manning while the signal caller played for the Volunteers from 1995 until 1998. Prior to his retirement, Manning along with his younger brother and New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning would frequently come to Durham to train with Cutcliffe during NFL offseasons.

Cutcliffe appears in the commercial several times.

In a separate video of Manning’s coaches released as part of Gatorade’s tribute, Cutcliffe discusses his experiences with Manning.

Among the other notable current and former coaches and players in the commercial are Manning’s father, Archie, Eli Manning, former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy, Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.
