After missing the NCAA tournament for just the second time in the last 12 seasons, Pittsburgh is poised to emerge as a dark-horse ACC contender. Although the Panthers lost three key players from a year ago, Dixon has added three graduate transfers to his roster and will look for key contributions from forwards Jamel Artis and Michael Young. Artis is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign, during which he averaged 13.6 points per game along with 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He relied on his versatility to finish the season with 18 consecutive double-digit scoring games—the second-best streak in the ACC. Young, who earned honorable mention All-ACC honors after recording 13.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last year, is a powerful interior force and can also stretch opposing defenses with his ability to hit outside shots.
