Nike launches Kyrie Irving signature shoe Wednesday night

Wednesday was a big day for Duke basketball.

Early in the day, Bucks forward Jabari Parker was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month. In the evening, the No. 4 Blue Devils dispatched No. 2 Wisconsin on the road 80-70 for their biggest win of the season.

Finally, one of the NBA's fastest rising stars and a former Duke standout, Kyrie Irving, became the 20th player with a signature Nike basketball shoe when Nike unveiled the Kyrie 1 Wednesday.

Irving recently gave custom Air Force 1's to Duke after the Blue Devils made their regular season debut in custom LeBron 12's, given by Irving's new teammate LeBron James.

According to ESPN's Darren Rovell and James' twitter account, James was on hand to support Irving during the shoe launch Wednesday.

The shoes feature the new "KI" logo, signature on the inside of the tongue and number on the back of the heel.

At just 22 years old, Irving is the first player to get his own shoe since Kevin Durant in 2007. The shoe will go on sale Dec. 23 for $110.

At 10-7, Irving, James and the rest of their teammates recently climbed above 0.500 for the first time this season and will look to keep trending up as Irving's shoes hit the market in a little less than three weeks.

In his first game in his new shoes, Irving scored 37 points on 12-of-18 shooting to lead Cleveland past New York 90-87 after hitting a teardrop with 10 seconds left in the game.
