Duke football receives 3rd most votes amongst unranked teams in latest AP Poll

After recording their ninth win of the season to post back-to-back nine-win seasons for the first time in school history Saturday night, the Blue Devils received the third-most votes out of the unranked teams in the latest AP Poll.

Duke received the fifth-most votes for unranked teams last week and will have some work to do to finish the season ranked in the top 25 again.

The Blue Devils knocked off Wake Forest at Wallace Wade Stadium 41-21 Saturday night thanks to a strong performance from redshirt senior quarterback Anthony Boone and several other seniors playing their last home game.

The victory was Duke's first in three weeks after dropping home contests to Virginia Tech and North Carolina to lose the ACC Coastal Division crown. Despite the recent disappointment, the Blue Devils were able to minimize turnovers and penalties in their final regular season game to cruise to a 20-point win.

Duke will have a chance to improve its AP Poll ranking in its bowl game and if the teams in front of the Blue Devils falter in the next few weeks. The Blue Devils' bowl destination will be announced Dec. 7 following championship weekend.
