Duke football injury report: Syracuse

As the Blue Devils prepare to travel to Syracuse for Saturday's 12:30 p.m. game against the Orange at the Carrier Dome, Duke released its weekly injury report. We look at who will be missing Saturday's game and the implications going forward:

PROBABLE

S Deondre Singleton (upper body)

OUT

CB Alonzo Saxton II (shoulder)

OUT FOR SEASON

LB Kelby Brown (leg)

TE Braxton Deaver (leg)

DE Taariq Shabazz (leg)

Breakdown: After missing most of last week's game against Pittsburgh with a shoulder injury, sophomore safety Deondre Singleton is listed as probable and will make the trip to Syracuse tomorrow. Head coach David Cutcliffe told the media today that Singleton will be available to play, but it is unclear if he will get the start. If he does not start, backup Evrett Edwards, who relieved Singleton last weekend, will get the nod at the bandit safety spot. The redshirt freshman has seen plenty of time in the secondary this season, registering 13 tackles and an interception.

Freshman defensive Alonzo Saxton II will not make the trip to Syracuse after suffering a shoulder injury against the Panthers. The Columbus, Ohio, native has seen limited time in the secondary, but was productive, notching 12 tackles and pass breakup this season, but was a key contributor on special teams. No word on who will fill Saxton's place on kickoffs and punts.

Not listed on the injury report is tight end Dan Beilinson, who missed the team's first seven games with an upper body injury. The redshirt sophomore was available last week against Pittsburgh, but did not see playing time in the 51-48 2OT win. It is possible that he will see the field Saturday, but fellow tight ends David Reeves and Erich Schneider are ahead of him on the depth chart.

ICYMI: Syracuse quarterback A.J. Long is listed as doubtful for Saturday's game with an arm injury and it appears sophomore Austin Wilson will get his first career start. Read our full story on the Orange's quarterback situation here.
