2014 NCAA tournament preview: Weber State

Weber State Wildcats

Head coach: Randy Rahe (8th season)

Record: 19-11

Season summary: The Wildcats didn’t have the toughest nonconference schedule, with UCLA and BYU being their toughest losses, but behind Big Sky Coach of the Year Randy Rahe and Big Sky Player of the Year Davion Berry, Weber State managed a 14-6 conference clip and secure its spot in the Big Dance by defeating North Dakota in the Big Sky tournament championship game. Berry led the conference in scoring at 19.1 points per game and has been a consistent scoring force all season, as he produced 18 games in which he registered at least 20 points. Berry is just one option in an efficient offensive attack that finished the season 20th in the NCAA in field goal percentage, shooting at a 48.1 percent clip.

How they make a run: With its first game coming against No. 1 seed Arizona, Weber State would need a monster performance from Berry and nothing short of the return of former Wildcat and current NBA All-Star Damian Lillard to pull of the upset.

How they falter: Weber State gives in to the star power of Nick Johnson and Aaron Gordon and fall behind early to Arizona.
