Thad Lewis to start for Bills against Bengals

Former Duke quarterback Thad Lewis will start for the Buffalo Bills next Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Doug Marrone said on WGR 550 radio in Buffalo (via ESPN).

Starting quarterback E.J. Manuel, the only signal-caller taken in the first round of this year's NFL Draft, will be sidelined for several weeks due to a knee injury.

The Bills traded for Lewis in August from the Lions after Lewis made his only career start last season for the Browns. In that start the Browns lost 24-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers while Lewis completed 22-of-32 passes for 204 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

In four seasons with Duke from 2006-2009, Lewis threw for 10,065 yards with 67 touchdowns and 40 interceptions. As a senior, he completed 274-of-449 passes for 20 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also ran for four touchdowns as a senior.

Almost as exciting as Lewis playing will likely be his postgame press conference, as he has always been known to provide candid quotes for reporters.
