Duke basketball target Reid Travis officially visiting this weekend

For the second consecutive weekend, Duke is hosting a big-man target from the class of 2014 for an official visit.

Reid Travis, the Blue Devils' most recent offer, is officially visiting this weekend per Adam Rowe of BlueDevilLair (subscription required). News of Duke offering Travis came earlier in September.

Travis, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Minneapolis, is AAU teammates with top-rated point guard and Duke target Tyus Jones.

Last week, top-10 forward Kevon Looney officially visited Duke and had a "great experience"

Travis and Looney are one of a handful of big-man targets the Blue Devils are pursuing in the class of 2014 including Jahlil Okafor and Myles Turner. Okafor and Jones are close friends and have said on many occasions they plan on attending college together. The duo is set to visit Duke together Oct. 25.

The July live evaluation period offered Travis a number of opportunities to play in front of the nation’s top coaches, and as a result the forward shot up recruiting boards.

Members of the Blue Devil coaching staff were able to take in Travis’ games throughout the month. Associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski was on hand when Travis averaged 22.0 points per game and led the USA Midwest squad to a third-place finish at the Nike Global Challenge in Washington D.C., and assistant coach Nate James watched Travis help lead his Howard Pulley AAU squad to a championship at the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando, Fla.

Duke’s lone commit thus far in the class of 2014 is Grayson Allen.
