Brooklyn Nets to practice at Duke basketball facilities in October

Mason Plumlee is coming back to Duke.

The Brooklyn Nets will practice at Duke's facilities from Oct. 1-5, the Nets and Blue Devils wrote in press releases today.

Nets general manager Billy King played at Duke from 1984-1988 and the Nets selected Plumlee, who graduated in May, in the first round of this year's NBA Draft.

The practices will take place at the Michael W. Krzyzewski Center for Academic and Athletic Excellence, aka The K Center. The Blue Devils begin their practices Sept. 28 with an open practice.

"With many new players and a new staff, going on the road for training camp will offer a unique opportunity for our players to bond and focus solely on basketball as they prepare for this season," King said in the release. "Duke university offers first class basketball facilities and will provide an optimum training environment for our team."

Nets star point guard Deron Williams won gold medals with Coach K at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics while new Nets head coach Jason Kidd was on the 2008 team.

The Nets are among the most intriguing teams to watch this preseason after acquiring aging stars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry from the Celtics this offseason.
