Boston College preview

Following a disappointing 2-10 season, their first 10-loss season since 1978, the Eagles hope to show signs of improvement under new coach Steve Addazio. Addazio, formerly the head coach of Temple, should bring new optimism to a program that has not made a bowl game in two consecutive seasons.

Despite Boston College’s lackluster performance last season, Addazio is still taking over a team that has some talent. Senior quarterback Chase Rettig is a serviceable starter and top wide receiver Alex Amidon was first-team All-ACC in 2012. Boston College is also returning eight of its top nine tacklers on defense, including senior linebackers Kevin Pierre-Louis and Steele Divitto.

The biggest concerns for Boston College are the offensive line and rushing game. Last season, the Golden Eagles ranked 119th out of 124 teams in rushing and Rettig was sacked 36 times. Matt Patchan, a 6-foot-7, 300-pound senior transfer from Florida, an NFL prospect should help improve the line, and freshmen backs Tyler Rouse and Myles Willis should help them improve in the backfield.
