Here is a tweet from Kelly's brother, Sean, a manager on the basketball team:

Surgery had always been a possibility for Kelly, though it was never definite. Team sports information director Matt Plizga said they never knew for certain in January or in March if surgery would eventually be necessary, but it was something they evaluated after the season.

Kelly finished the season averaging 12.9 points per game, making 42.2% of his 3-pointers. The highlight of his season was 36-point effort at Cameron Indoor Stadium against Miami in his first game after the foot injury.

He struggled after that, though. In the NCAA Tournament, he averaged just 6.3 points per game and made 1-of-13 3-pointers.

There will likely be more information available after Kelly completes his surgery, stay tuned for more.
