Duke basketball target Jabari Parker will not sign early

Jabari Parker, the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2013, will not sign during the early signing period (Nov.14-21), according to an article on Tuesday by Scott Powers of ESPN.com.

Aside from the Blue Devils, Parker is also considering BYU, Florida, Michigan State and Stanford.

This weekend Parker will be in East Lansing, Mich. for an official visit.

The 6-foot-8 wing forward will make his highly anticipated official visit Duke next weekend.

The ensuing weekends Parker will take official visits to Florida (Nov. 2-4), Stanford (Nov. 9-11) and BYU (Nov. 16-20).

Lately, the waiting game with high-profile recruits has not been kind to the Blue Devil coaching staff. Last spring, Shabazz Muhammad and Tony Parker dragged their recruitments out until April to announce their decisions to attend UCLA over Duke.

Parker may commit before the regular signing period, however, the verbal pledge will not be binding until he has signed his letter of intent.

The regular signing period is April 17-May 15.

So following Parker's official visit to Durham, it will be wait-and-see mode for the Blue Devil coaches and fans alike.

Duke already has two verbal commitments in the class of 2013— shooting guard Matt Jones and small forward Semi Ojeleye. Both are expected to sign during the early signing period.
