Earlier this year, Duke football unveiled several new helmets, including a black helmet with a matte finish. There are several indications that they will make their debut tonight. While there has not been an official announcement, the theme for the game seems to be "All Black."
This morning, running back Josh Snead tweeted that Duke fans should wear black tonight to help black out the stadium.
Backup quarterback Thomas Sirk even revealed that the field in Wallace Wade Stadium had gotten a new paint job, tweeting a picture of the field and saying "All black everything!"
All the writing on the field—including the ACC insignias at the 25-yard lines and the endzone writing—has been re-painted. While the writing is usually white with blue borders, it has been painted as black letters with white borders.
The Blue Devils will play the Eagles at 7 p.m. tonight in the Bull City Classic.
