John Mellencamp's boxing son to walk onto football team

Hud Mellencamp knows how to make it hurt so good.

The son of famed American rock artist John Mellencamp, Hud Mellencamp will attempt to walk onto the Duke football team this summer despite never having played high school football, according to Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports.

But Hud is no stranger to contact sports. In 2009 at the age of 14, Hud won a 132-pound Golden Gloves division title, boxing for the Indy Police Athletic League. Golden Gloves boxing competitions are prestigious tournaments for amateur boxers.

The below video is Hud's championship winning fight for the Indiana Golden Gloves title, a bout in which he won a 4-1 decision. Hud is wearing the yellow belt in the fight:

According to Feldman, Hud will play defensive back.
