Jasmine Thomas Traded to the Washington Mystics

Jasmine Thomas has been traded to the Washington Mystics in a three-team deal, according to a team press release.

Storm will receive former Mystic guard Katie Smith, center Jacinta Monroe and the Indiana Fever's 2012 second round pick. The Fever will add guard Erin Philips and the Storm's 2012 third round pick. Thomas will head to Washington with two 2012 draft picks—the Storm's first rounder and the Fever's third rounder.

Thomas was selected just weeks ago by the Seattle Storm with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft.

The 2010-11 Full Court Press ACC Player of the Year will join three other Blue Devils with the Mystics, highlighted by the Blue Devils' first National Player of the Year award winner, Alana Beard. Also, Thomas will once again be on the same team as classmate Karima Christmas, Washington's second round pick and 23rd overall. Two-time All-American Monique Currie rounds out the list of former Duke players in Washington.

Thomas has simply moved from one talented squad to another. The Storm won the WNBA championship a year ago behind the play of forwards Lauren Jackson and Sue Graham alongside WNBA legend Sue Bird.

The Mystics had a similarly successful 2010 regular season, earning the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference after amassing a 22-12 record. However, the team fell to Atlanta in the first round of the playoffs.
