Danowski Wins ACC Coach of the Year

Head coach John Danowski won ACC coach of the year honors yesterday, after leading his young team to the ACC regular season title and a 3-0 record.

Instead of basking in his glory, or even acknowledging the prestige of the award, though, Danowski said:

"We don't pay attention to any of that stuff. They gotta pick somebody, so pick the guy that's 3-0.

"Nobody wins an individual award in our sport. Your work is a....testament to everyone in the program. None of us put much stock into individual awards."

While he may not acknowledge his achievements, his peers certainly do, as this is this second time winning the award.

Danowski leads the Blue Devils tonight against Virginia, and he owns a 9-1 overall record at Duke against the Cavaliers. He's also 3-1 in ACC tournament games against the team.

Besides the coach, junior midfielder CJ Costabile and freshman attackman Jordan Wolf also received All-ACC honors.
