Final— Duke 141, St. Augustine's 68

Well, Duke got everything it wanted out of this game. And then some. I have to go to the media room, but I'll put some postgame stuff up from there.

1:00 2nd Half— Duke 139, St. Augustine's 67

Ryan Kelly gets into double digits and Andre Dawkins continues to hit from long range. Thornton is one point away from getting 10, but it doesn't look like he'll get there.

3:14 2nd Half— Duke 133, St. Augustine's 62

Todd and Casey are both in the game! I assume they'll play the rest of the way.

3:45 2nd Half— Duke 130, St. Augustine's 61

Casey Peters and Todd Zafirovsky get up and stretch for a moment. The crowd is calling "Casey Peters!"  I expect it to come soon.

5:01 2nd Half— Duke 128, St. Augustine's 60

Seth Curry is back in the game, so I guess he's OK. Hairston fouls out, finishing with 7 points. Seth also should've been listed in my earlier post about double-digit scorers.

5:58 2nd Half— Duke 126, St. Augustine's 59

Scary moment for Duke fans as Seth Curry goes down awkwardly after getting fouled on a shot and clutches his right knee. He hits his free throws after getting up, but he's immediately replaced by Nolan Smith. He's being examined by a trainer right now...

7:13 2nd Half— Duke 120, St. Augustine's 55

Tyler Thornton and Kyle Singler get in on the alley-oop show as Thornton lobs one that Singler manages to tap home. There's not really much to be concerned about for Duke other than a bit of a lapse defensively this half. Miles Plumlee hasn't produced much offense, but he hasn't been asked to. Also of concern, Mason has four fouls, but these aren't clear frustration fouls like those that limited him last year. Also, he has 13 points on nearly 100% shooting, and he's also gotten quite a few rebounds. Kyle Singler now has more than 30 points.

11:07 2nd Half— Duke 108, St. Augustine's 47

Four players who have double figures:Kyle Singler has 24 with 9 rebounds. Irving and Dawkins each have 12 points. Mason Plumlee has 13. And that's just out of the guys on the floor. I'm sure Smith is in double figures also, and Kelly might as well.

13:29 2nd Half— Duke 98, St. Augustine's 41

Seth Curry is unbelievable. Looks like his older brother did from long range, but with all the talent around him, he doesn't have to deal with the constant double teams. He missed one as soon as I wrote that, but I still stand by my statement. He's a REALLY good shooter. Perhaps some kind of nickname or t-shirt would be appropriate.

15:13 2nd Half— Duke 94, St. Augustine's 39

Josh Hairston gets his first points, so all 10 scholarship players have scored for Duke. Also, Seth Curry continues to show off his impressive shooting touch. Mason Plumlee now has three fouls—it doesn't matter now, but unlike last year the depth of this team is mainly in the back court. The Blue Devils only have so many big men... Still a lot more than most teams but still something to consider.

16:20 2nd Half— Duke 89, St. Augustine's 35

Update: Austin Rivers says he's wearing number 0 at Duke. I'll ask for confirmation from Coach K at the press conference, because he had previously said he wouldn't let Rivers wear number 0. Also, Duke is still dominating the basketball game, but not as consistently on the defensive end as they had been.

Beginning of the second:

BREAKING NEWS! Austin Rivers just tweeted that he'll be wearing number 0 because college is a fresh start. Did Coach K decide to let him do that next year or is this just a senior-year thing? I'll ask about that after the game...

Half time: Duke 73, St. Augustine's 25

9 Blue Devils have scored on 68.4% shooting—coincidentally that's their free throw shooting percentage as well. Duke has 20 assists against 6 turnovers. St. Augustine's has 20 turnovers and only 4 assists. I could throw stats out all day, but you get the point: this game is over. The team must now just worry about staying healthy. Also, I think it would be nice for Peters and Zafirovsky some playing time.

End 1st Half— Duke 73, St. Augustine's 25

Andre Dawkins is draining buckets from long distance. This team isn't just obscenely athletic, but it also has some really great shooters from distance. Ryan Kelly, who WON the McDonald's All-American game three-point shooting contest his senior year of high school, is probably the seventh-best three-point option on the team. That's absurd.

1:58 1st Half— Duke 70, St. Augustine's 25

Mason Plumlee gets two quick buckets to reach 11 points. 10 of those came on dunks and the other one came from a three-point play (on a dunk). Seth Curry demonstrates his beautiful shooting touch by hitting two at the line.

3:43 1st Half— Duke 59, St. Augustine's 21

Tyler Thornton came in as soon as I wrote that and then hits a three from the corner. I believe all of Duke's players (except maybe Josh Hairston) have scored points in this game. Will Casey Peters and Todd Zafirovski get to play in the first half?

4:21 1st Half— Duke 55, St. Augustine's 21

If you saw the dunk contest, then you've basically seen this game. Just toss in some three pointers and defense take away Casey Peters' awesome rainbow kick and Andre Dawkins's little brother throwing him an alley-oop. The rotation now seems like one that Krzyzewski might actually use. Thornton's been out for a while, and so have Irving and Hairston—maybe the freshmen are just tired or cramping up.

7:37 1st Half— Duke 44, St. Augustine's 14

It has turned into the Kyle Singler show here—a couple of nice buckets ina row for him under the basket and from distance. I'm tempted to stop putting up the scores, because it's not really relevant any more. Miles Plumlee took a hit in the face but he came back quickly and the crowd released its collectively held breath. Mason has GOT to learn to control his aggressiveness. He's already picked up a second foul, but he has improved his offensive game significantly. He's taking advantage of his height and attacking the basket. Miles has done an outstanding job of avoiding fouls and has been quietly solid with two points and some good defense.

11:50 1st Half— Duke 27, St. Augustine's 3

The fans' timing is off—this is way way way too early for a "Crazy Towel Guy" chant.

11:50 1st Half— Duke 27, St. Augustine's 3

Duke has instituted a press to take advantage of their depth and force St. Augustine's to run. The depth on this team is unbelievable. Tyler Thornton comes in with 13:45 left. That's pretty early to get a tenth man in the game—even in an exhibition. I don't know that the Blue Devils will empty their bench this early in the game once real competition starts, but I think the depth is really showing to be legitimate. Seth Curry shows off his range on a LONG 3. And so does Andre Dawkins. This team is still very much like Coach K's other editions in one key way: they play hard on defense.

14:51 1st Half— Duke 22, St. Augustine's 1

St. Augustine's scores, but Duke is clearly in control. Kyrie Irving is continuing to impress and rarely used reserve Ryan Kelly—who bulked up during the the summer—gets in on the dunk contest.

15:41 1st Half— Duke 16, St. Augustine's 0

Mason Plumlee and Kyrie Irving are putting on a show right now. Mason has two thunderous dunks on breakaways and Kyrie Irving is passing spectacularly, hustling on the defensive end, and just now scored on a beautiful reverse layup. Mason commits a foul—something that was a problem for him last year—to put a St. Augustine's player on the line for two shots. After the stoppage in play, everyone except for Kyrie Irving subs out. Tyler Thornton is the only player who is expected to receive significant playing time who has not been in the game

17:33 1st Half— Duke 10, St. Augustine's 0

Duke wins the tip and Kyrie Irving opens the scoring with a 3-pointer from the corner. A defensive stand is followed by a Duke turnover. Some good hustle from Kyrie Irving sets up a jump-ball. Some quick outlet passing allows Irving to lob a an alley-oop to Mason Plumlee, who draws a foul on his dunk and converts the 3-point play. Duke—and Kyrie Irving in particular—is playing great defense. Irving has forced a jump ball and forced his man to travel. He also has two assists on alley-oops. The only problem: Nolan Smith has missed all three of his free-throws!

20:00 1st Half— Duke 0, St. Augustine's 0

1 of 2 for the Crazies. Nobody said "you suck" but there was still a fairly significant group yelling "O" during the anthem. Starting lineup for Duke: Kyrie Irving, Mason Plumlee, Miles Plumlee, Nolan Smith, and Kyle Singler. I don't know how much playing time these guys will get—I don't think it'll be much. Krzyzewski will probably want to get everybody some playing time in a game that the Blue Devils should handle pretty easily.

20:00 1st Half— Duke 0, St. Augustine's 0

Blue Devil's head reads "Hi Mom & Dad!" Would've thought it would be about the start of the new season. Family first I guess. United States men's basketball honored pre-game. That leads to a Coach K photo-op with another awesome trophy followed by a presentation of the FIBA championships. Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler, who were part of the Select-Team (Team USA's practice squad) were also honored, as were freshmen Kyrie Irving and Joshua Hairston—who won the FIBA America's U18 Championship).

Pre-game:

Crazies are loud and intimidating. There's not even anything going on and I feel like I'm going to be crushed. I talked to Crazy Towel Guy on the way in and he thinks it's gonna be a big year for Duke—as long as everyone stays healthy. That's what Duke will look to do here as the result doesn't matter in this exhibition game...

More pre-game:

The biggest suspense of the night will probably be whether or not the Crazies (and their parents) abide by the Line Monitors' requests to stop yelling "you suck" as opposing players are introduced and remain silent during the National Anthem. We'll see in a moment!
